Designing logos and mockups for a study abroad program's promotional materials.

One of my first ever freelance design projects was a collaboration with the University of San Francisco's study abroad department. I had a few contract positions with the department during the pandemic, but this opportunity in particular gave me my first look into producing physical materials. I was asked to create a logo design for the "USF in Shanghai" study abroad program, as well as a few mockups for the program's promotional materials.

I designed face masks, shirts, and even phone charger batteries, but we ultimately went with Moleskine-style notebooks. Below are the mockups that I sent to the department for selection and production.

Final Product

The final notebook used the school colors: a deep emerald green with a gold yellow accents. The logo I designed plays with Chinese cultural references, such as acknowledging Shanghai's famous Yangpu bridge, and the brush stroke nodding to traditional Chinese character writing. The chosen logo also plays with typography, using extensions of the words' lines to build up the structural piers.
