Nutmeg Publishing
Bringing a new experience to UConn's publishing and content organization
Nutmeg Publishing is the University of Connecticut’s student-run yearbook and magazine publishing organization. They capture, design, and produce printed content for the student body, and provide it for free.
In 2023, I was given a position on the executive team at Nutmeg. My primary responsibilities were to manage B2C and B2B marketing, but due to the small size of the team, I ended up taking on a number of duties such as web design and management, enterprise operations, and other cross-functional buckets.
Leveraged campus resources, social media, and event marketing every semester to promote the sales of our bi-annual magazine. Events consisted of large concert performances, pop-up vendors, and tabling spaces for our partner organizations.
Designed a strategic outreach campaign for our biggest athletes using magazine mockups with their faces on it. The goal was to catch their attention and get their feature in our issue.
Repositioning the brand with social media strategy
As the social media manager, I was responsible for developing campaigns and content that would drive engagement. I wanted to make sure these campaigns supported a brand positioning as a fun organization involved in campus lifestyle, which I felt would best resonate with the student body.
This strategy involved several TikTok series, pivoting to a playful brand rhetoric/voice, and advertising our campus events more vividly.
Content planning, creation, and design
I worked to curate the social feeds to reflect a more hipster, trendy aesthetic through contemporary content. Using After Effects, DaVinci, and Photoshop, I developed animated posts that involved entertaining content, such as music, sports, and nightlife.
